New, different and way too cute!

I crochet amigurumi critters constantly and am always on the outlook for something different. These fit the bill. With so many to choose from it was hard to know where to start....but in less than a week I have already made four covers. I need more bathrooms! The book is well laid out and the patterns clearly written. A little adjusting on size was needed, but that is to be expected as we all use different yarns, hooks etc. Mine has all turned out well. The monkey is way too adorable. This books is a great value for the money.

I absolutely adore this book. I have been crocheting for a few years and still find simple stitches fun. If you are new to crochet this is the perfect book for you! Even if you are experienced, Lisa Wright gives a new use and look to simple stitches. Definitely my new favorite crochet book!

THIS ISNT JUST PATTERNS TO HIDE TOILET PAPER!!!

Great, easy patterns! I made the birthday cake 'holder' for one of my granddaughters... inside the roll, I put money! Everyone loved it!!!! I don't think the patterns only have be a toilet paper cover lol... it's a great gift card or present holder thAt can be stuffed and used for cute gifts...like the cupcake or octopus, for example...this is a very useful book and, BTW, can also hide a roll of toilet paper :)

Bursting with information!

This book is one of those that rather than elaborate for some thousand pages on just a few gold nuggets, has MANY peices of valuable information, from tuning forks to elements to patterns and more!! This book is done from a semi-scientific approch and the author has done a wonderful job researching! Lots of diagrams and pictures. Very easy to understand and put to practical use.
If You like sound and want to expand it into healing for yourself and others this book could be just what your looking for!

Unique Vibrational Healing

As a Holistic Practitioner, I recently became interested in what some have called "vibrational medicine". I found Beaulieu's unique observations into the world of sound, music and healing to be thrilling and his views have urged me to continue looking into the realm of sound. I have adopted some of his tenets into my consulting work. Information on voice energetics was most interesting; combining physiology with energy concepts, as was the chapter on tuning forks. A great read.

John Beaulieu has done a wonderful job with this book, especially for those of us who are visually oriented and like to see the concepts presented in a visual manner - lots of diagrams.

John's knowledge of the history of music and it's use in healing, as well as his vast knowledge as a composer and musician, make this work valuable if you're planning on using music in your own therapeutic work. I'd recommend it very highly.

I've referred to John's web site for quite some time for information, and have been impressed with his generosity in sharing files he has composed. I haven't seen that on very many sites. John's CD's are also excellent.

Reece not for me

I enjoy this authors books, although this one was not for me. I found Reese to be niave and shallow. He spends half the book with another girl. His internal dialogue was all over the place. How he loves Chloe and knew something was not right the day she leaves him. But two days later he is with the girl who degrades Chleo when ever she can. He talks about how that was not something he is proud of but he stays with this girl the whole summer (and most the book) never once going to see Chloe. He talks about how hot his current girlfriend is and how he needs to be nicer to her and then he cannot stop thinking of Chloe. It was one contradiction after another and all he does is hurt the girl he loves and gives her up without a fight. Again I do enjoy this authors books but this one did not hit the mark.

Where can I get a Reece?

There are certain elements I have come to expect from Amity Hope's books.

A strong leading female.
That strong female always makes the first move with the leading male.
A kick-ass best friend.
A dose of realism in the climactic scene.

I am a little concerned that people are going to expect too much from this book. This isn't Twisted, it's not meant to be Twisted. It does not have the same heavy themes and the characters are not going to compare. This is a lighter read, but not completely without drama.

Cleo is a strong leading female, now a senior in high school. She has a lot of issues at home, all in the form of her younger sister's father, who I understand is her step-father. Cleo's mother died and she takes care of her younger sister, both emotionally and mostly financially, but sometimes her sister's father will contribute.

The story begins with Reece -- he is in love with Cleo and doesn't understand what happened between them. He's angry but is still trying to understand. The one comparison I can make to Twisted is that if Maya Anderson were a boy, she would be Reece.

Maya took rejection, was never deterred. I think Reece may actually top her on this one. After a seemingly perfect relationship that was healthy and stable, unlike most teenage relationships, Cleo drops Reece in the worst way in the world of a teenager.

At school, in front of everyone. Not only that, but as Reece is basically begging her not to break up with him, another guy walks up and Cleo takes his hand and walks away with him. Away from Reece.

After that humiliating and devastating experience, Reece STILL pursues Cleo when he realizes that everything isn't as it appears. Don't get me wrong, he isn't following her like a puppy trying to win her back. He figures out that she is hiding something, that she didn't break up with him to see other people as she originally said.

Most adults would struggle with that public rejection, but here is a teenage boy taking it like it's nothing. That's how much he cares about Cleo.

Little does he know, her secrets are deep. There is lying, betrayal, and cruelty. Not on Cleo's part, she isn't the only actor in this situation. She's just the main piece that takes the fall.

In the end, I like that Reece doesn't play hero. It's realistic, he doesn't use physical force to avenge Cleo. He's there for her, and does what he can to support her, but doesn't turn all Hulk.

As expected, the supporting characters are well developed and Cleo's best friend and sister are pretty amazing.

Reece and Cleo are a sickeningly perfect couple, they are solid and truly love one another. It's beautiful and you can't help but cheer for them.

Once again, Amity does not disappoint. This book edges toward the more adult side of YA, but I think it'd be great for any age.

I read this book because I recognized the author's name. I read a book called Twisted by Amity Hope and loved it. I figured this would be a good book as well. It definitely was.

I like the way the author builds her characters. The reader can't help but become engrossed in their lives. Reece is a great character. Although he comes from a privileged background he is not a snob. He is a caring, genuine guy. His feelings for Cleo are so apparent. Cleo is trying to survive her life. She wants to do what is right. She puts the needs of others before her own and that just really sucks. She is a teenager and shouldn't have to deal with what she does. Amity drew me in with these two characters.

The story line was a great one. At first the voice we hear is Reece's. He can't understand what went wrong with his relationship with Cleo. He is trying to figure it out. Then the reader gets a glimpse into Cleo's life and things start to fall in place. It's heartbreaking to see two people who belong together be kept apart. I like the way Reece starts to open his eyes to what's going on and that he doesn't give up on Cleo. This is a great read.

I like it when I can find an author that doesn't disappoint. This is the second book I have read by Amity Hope and both experiences were worthwhile. I will definitely read any other book by Amity Hope. Her writing is excellent and her characters are ones I can attach to. Very Satisfactory read.

Wow, a futa author who didn't use a sleazy cover, lol. It's not even shelved as "transgender" as a lot of these futa authors so wrongly do. And the writing is actually pretty decent. It started out well and I could picture two women at first. Only futa girl didn't get much description... it's all about the schlong, really. This could have been a het couple. But for what it is... it's not bad.

It's about a horny princess who loves her hot lady knight. When the lady knight joins a mission to take out an evil sorceress, she returns home "cursed" with altered sexual anatomy. The surprising part is that the princess eagerly welcomes the spell and has apparently been bi-curious all along. From there it could have been a M/F sex story.

I don't know. I'd like to believe the two leads were actually lesbians and that they BOTH still maintained a female presence.

Wow, L.M. Pickett is a very great author. I loved this story and went on ahead to read her other fanfiction stories and I gotta say, it went beyond my expectation. Although this story was too short to truly show her talent, the fanfiction stories are much longer and have great character development like in this one. Her other stories are F/F pairing, you will not find futanari characters in those. I really love her work. If you're interested look her up I believe she goes under the pen name ImPerrin.

One of the Best Criticisms of Tolkien I Have Ever Read

In twenty some pages E. Michael Jones explicates some of the "failures" almost every reader of Tolkien feels upon reading Tolkien. To me, there was always the feeling, "Yeah, there's something great about this work, but.....am I missing something?" Yes, it turns out I was missing something big time. Jone's contends that Tolkien sought to reset his beloved "Northern Thing" in England to rescue it from the tainted embrace of Wagner. Wagner mined the Northern Thing for his own Ring Trilogy, Wagner was later a darling of the Nazis, Wagner thus tainted the Northern Thing with Antisemitism. Tolkien sought to remove this taint of racism from the Northern Thing by resetting it in England and retelling the mythos. Simultaneously, he would be gifting his beloved England with its' own foundation myth.

Jones argues that in resetting and retelling the Wagnerian mythos in England Tolkien stripped the story of its' deeper meaning. I would (and do) disagree, but the points he makes are cogent and thought provoking. Given the truncated nature of this "book" the insights are arguments contained within outshine (IMHO) volumes written by others. A truly groundbreaking work that led to me returning to reading Tolkien and developing a much deeper appreciation for all of Tolkien's work.

Much as you'd expect from yet another 'voice of the oppressed'

Not sure it matters that the author seems to understand very little about Tolkien when you consider the predictable anti-English tone of his pronouncements elsewhere and the meaningless phrases attributed to him such as 'ethnic Catholics'. Language-abuse is common among Irish-wordshipping American authors and assigning all the ills of the world to 'WASPS' no less so. Serious students of Tolkien or Wagner [axe-grinders excepted] are warned they will find little to interest them here. Do not confuse understanding the Ring with talking through it.
